Empowering Girls - 5 Minutes for Mom Party

I'm Tracee Sioux and So Sioux Me is a blog to inspire mothers to empower their daughters.

We focus on deconstructing the media and the culture and how it impacts girls. We discuss new gender research and bounce around ideas about parenting daughters.

My ultimate dream is to get one million people to care about empowering girl issues.

So Sioux Me is also an official A New Earth small community running simultaneous with the Oprah online class so feel free to come by and expound on the book and it's impact on your personal life.

Please browse around the contents, subscribe, bookmark me, and put me in your RSS Feed. I've been waiting for you my whole life.

Thanks to 5 Minutes for Mom to sponsoring this party.

Oh, and I'd love to give something away . . . how bout a copy of A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose (Oprah's Book Club, Selection 61)by Eckhart Tolle? There is nothing more empowering than discovering your own life's purpose and passing that on to your daughters (and sons).

Sign up for an email subscription to So Sioux Me (left sidebar) during the week of the 5 Minutes for Mom party and you're entered to win.

Hello! I like what you said about empowering young girls. As a female attorney, I care deeply about young girls getting and education.

Anyway, hope to see you over at my blog. I've got a contest going.

I think google is acting funny today, so here is another try.
I love the mission of your blog, women need to be aware that there are choices -- and direction in how to make the right ones to help their daughters. I have boys -- four of them... and I talk to them frequently about these issues, and what it's like for me, and what it was like when I was a child in the 60s for women.

Google!!! Is acting weird!!
I'll try again.
Congratulations on the Oprah gig. Love your mission -- I raise 4 boys,a and I teach them what it was like for me in the 60s, and how hard it still is, and what we can do.

I hope that comment makes it this time!

Tracee!

Where have you been MY whole life?? :) I began my website when my daughter was born, and I realized how much I have to do make her strong, proud, happy, and self-respecting in this society. It starts with the Mamas :), the women. I am now raising a beautiful, young, intelligent Goddess Girl who knows what she is about (and her Mama :)..). I think you have found a sister :). Congratulations on the Oprah connection!

Tracee, where have you been all MY life?? :)
I launched my website when my daughter was born and I realized I would have to make the earth move to raise a strong, proud, self-respecting girl in this society. It all starts with the Mamas, the women, right? I am happy to see your blog. You have found a sister on a mission.

Where have you all been all my life.

Alone, I can empower my girl, her friends, my mentee, and a few others here and there.

All of us together though - look out world - we may just convince you that our daughters are not a consumable product! Together - we can empower girls with an unshakable inherent value so they aren't tempted to put themselves on sale.
