Around the Commonwealth, the marriage of Princess Di and Prince Charles was met with comments like "She will breed a little height into the House of Windsor."
She really was seen as nothing more than a brood mare.
Thank goodness she became so much more. - June 20, 2007 at 7:11 PM

And why do little girls think being a Princess would be so much fun? Tracee

Have you seen "The Queen?" It's pretty eye opening about how aloof and cold the monarchy really is.

Jen,
I know, Ainsley and I both watched it and it was a great lesson in politics. When she asked who Tony Blair was I told her he's the Prime Minister, kind of the President. She said, "That's George Bush?" Uh no. She totally got it though.
I could see where The Queen was coming from though. The times, and what the people expected from their Royals changed drastically. Diana was responsible for it in a lot of ways. Of course she would feel lost and betrayed by it. I had empathy for Queen Elisabeth.
I also thought it was great for Ainsley to see a woman running the country. She was considering her husbands ideas, but she made the ultimate decisions and took action. I totally loved that aspect of the movie. I did a whole post about The Queen.
