Dance Revolution

We're thinking about Ainsley's 6th birthday which looms in the near future. She said she wants a DVD ballet class but there is no way she's going to like doing ballet. I took ballet once as a kid and it's extremely "disciplined." I think my daughter will find it anal retentive and boring - but, maybe I'm just projecting.

I am thinking she might get Dance Dance Revolution DDR TV Pad (No Console). I think it will be great for exercise and both children will love doing it. Watching Ainsley and Zack twirl each other around during Dancing With the Stars is worth money.

I got this last year for exercise, and it is a lot of fun. I even have two pads so my 11-year-old sister-in-law and I can play together. Of course, she always smokes me.

Just be aware that some of the characters are hyper-sexualized, and some of the songs might not be appropriate (I seem to recall one called "Do Me").

Darn it. I wonder if someone makes one appropriate for children?

You have to choose the character and song yourself so you could just supervise. There are like 30 different versions to choose from too.

I know there is a Disney version where you dance with Mickey, Donald etc. that you might look into. I don't think it has any princesses.

That's amazing that you posted this. A lady at weight watchers said it's great exercise and fun and I was wondering where I could order one. Thanks!

We LOVE Dance Dance Revolution at our house! I even had a DDR themed party for my 29th birthday, some things you just don't grow out of.
I agree with other posters, it's worth supervising. Pick the old disco songs and a character with a fro, if you ask me!
