Empowering Girls: Consuming Kids

What's the #1 thing we should teach our kids? Marketing Resistance. They're really gonna need it.

I know! You ever see kids when a commercial comes on?! They have tunnel-vision for that tv! You could be giving them a new puppy and they wouldn't even notice!

this problem is so severe and so many young parents today leave the TV on non-stop as backgroud noise or something. I've tried to discuss the excessive TV with my son and neice (both with little kids)and they don't get it. They are educated people but they see no harm in hours of TV AND excessive amount of toys - Way more than the kids need.

My neice uses the baby einstein tapes extensively with both her kids ages 10 months and 3. The American Academy of Pediatricians has discouraged videos at this age and when I try to discuss this with her she says " I think it's OK" I son't know how to get through to them. I can see these kids turning into little selfish brats before my eyes. it's disturbing.

It would be easier if it were just a matter of turning off the tv.

There is a Capitol One sign on the High School Sign.

They are paying for text books to put ads in them, paying for printing of report cards to put ads in them, paying for playground equipment to put ads on them.

They have internet games and ads in toys and on food.
